So that means that my infinite wisdom to resort to a more custom approach via WordPress on the upcoming JKenMedia site was actually fortuitous. Of course this also changes my plans for keeping this blog active as a generic “life” blog. It will have to be reworked as well.

I’ll leave this up for the time being, but it will go away in the next month or so… With the only remaining option being to host blogs on a custom Blogspot domain, I will not be interested in continuing with this service. I actually just found out (realized the ramifications) about this and as I continue typing this note, I’m finding myself growing a little sad at the news. I’ve enjoyed this service within the limited fashion I’ve used it and can see the possibilities for others who have taken advantage of the full set of features it offers. This was also my first internet venture and my first experience with a blogging tool. It’s a little sad to see it going away in the capacity it once was. Of course if I only cared to have a blog sans other pages on my site, I suppose I could continue merrily with the custom domain hosted service they are opting for (never mind custom installations). But I don’t think that will suffice for me and I will move on to more robust offerings via WordPress.

I’m surprised how a little sad about this…

Hmmm, Hmmm, Hm-Hmmmmm… Hm-Hmmmmm!

Yeah that’s right. It’s the “future” now! Just look at this picture to think about the ramifications… What the heck happened to last year? I have had plenty of time over the last several months to evaluate what matters, and recognize all the experience and mentoring that has been offered to me from a wide spectrum of individuals. Much gratitude and now, it seems like I may finally be able to finish up some of the grand projects I had envisioned for last year, this year. (crosses fingers)
For starters I have begun relegating the JKenLive site into archive status. It has served me well but now it’s time for something more to showcase new training and experiences acquired. It will remain in it’s current form until I come up with a better use for the domain.
Another site I have been managing is also undergoing some new changes. They have had a lot a lot of activity building up and need something beyond the rudimentary HTML I layed out over 4 years ago. Some new starting layouts and code should be in the mail this weekend.
JKenMedia – this site will enter an experimental phase for a little while in the process of putting together some satisfying code for it as well as future projects. I’ll have a link page to usual media outlets such as Youtube, MySpace and other artistic site venues while this blog will remain the active update source for both sites until everything else is sorted out.
There’s a pile of music that needs to be published into somewhere, motion-graphic, video and game projects – a couple of stories I’ve been tooling around in my head, along with some hoop jumping to satiate everybody else. It’s going to be a wild year and I’m looking forward to it — in 2010!

Just finished figuring out how to get a second domain running from my server. Jkenmedia is now live as an independent website from JKenLive!
jkenmedia.com
Now all I have to do is build the matching website to go along with the domain. Not really much else for this post. Just some small steps towards the moon.

So it seems I’ve been derailed in my quest to launch my very own media production empire. Half the year has past with little progress in the areas I had hoped.

Plans now, are to soon reveal a new JKen Media logo. I’ve been scribbling a few designs here and there, and have settled on a couple of concepts that to develop fully.

A mission statement is in the works with the overall theme of telling the story. Don’t really think there will be much else to it except for the specifics of how JKen Media will help people to complete the stories they want to tell.

Have currently been preparing video snippets and highlights for U-CAP’s projects across the country as well as their promotional materials. Looking to expand on this with the experience gained working in quality control for both video games and dvd/video production.

JKen Media will be a place where individuals can come looking for promotional logos in video and print along with narrative voice, original music and sound to go along with their projects to complete their story.

This blog will take over as the sounding board for current projects and news while the existing web site (jkenlive.com) will get scrapped in favor of a new JKen Media site that will primarily showcase projects and demos for interested parties.

That’s all for now. More to come.

Just finished re-rendering my old splash page logo from my website. This was what would play when a user would hit the home page of my URL. I decided to take it down because it seemed to detract from a fluid visit.
Currently I’ve been toying around with some different logo and text treatments for the new J-Ken Media freelance push I’ve been trying to get ramped up for this year. Using a different (custom) font style perhaps, and some animations that can be integrated into the site navigation.
That’s all for now.

I was running through some of my old archived projects and came across the After Effects project folder for this clip. I decided to re-render it in HD and give it a go on with YouTube’s new HD options. The picture quality is very impressive, but either some setting got reset before the render or it’s just really showing it’s age.

For best results view the video on the YoutTube page directly. Then you can see the full HD scale that YouTube offers. This was my first After Effects project, ever.

And, as you can see, I’ve also linked my blog to my YouTube account and will be trying it out some more.
